Facilities Available in the College
Infrastructure
The college is situated in a vast 96 acre land. There are two main blocks, namely, North Block and South Block, of 60,000 sq.ft. each floor space. The Undergraduate classrooms and all the Science Laboratories are located in these blocks. There is a separate Intermediate block and separate Post-Graduate Block with a floor space of 10,000 sq.ft. A separate building for Computer Centre with a floor space of 5,000 sq.ft. is provided.
Library
The College Library, one of the best in the University area, has a collection of 65,000 volumes which include 7,500 highly valuable books in the reference section and subscribes to about 120 periodicals and Journals. The library maintains a book bank for poor students and organises competitions apart from the ones organised by the library and Cultural Association. The Librarian takes one class a week for the first year undergraduates orienting them to the fruitful use of the library.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Each department has an association with a Chairman and Office-bearers from among the students with a staff member as the Co-ordinator.
The Departmental Associations organise co-curricular activities like science exhibitions, industrial visits, guest lectures and seminars as well as literary and cultural activities. Among the literary and cultural activities on the campus, a weeklong separate cultural festival for all the students (SPANDANA for Intermediate, SPHOORTI for Degree and BHAVANA for PG) should be specially mentioned. In addition, students of the College participate in many Inter-collegiate and State-Level competitions and win prizes.
Facilities for Sports and Games
Adequate facilities are available for the physical training of the students. A football ground, a cricket field, a hockey field, 4 volleyball courts, 2 basketball courts, 1 handball court, 3 lawn tennis courts, 4 table tennis tables, a ball badminton court, 4 shuttle badminton courts (indoor) and 1 multigym in a separate indoor stadium are located within the campus. A separate Indoor Stadium has recently been constructed with UGC special assistance. It is worth noting that Andhra Loyola College has won the Team Championship in the ANU Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet for the past 13 years and the ANUIC- Football Championship consecutively for the past 4 years.
Special Facility for Girl Students
As part of its commitment to the cause of Women's Empowerment, ALC admits Girls students into most of the Undergraduate courses and all the PG Courses. Women's Cell, Girls Waiting Room, and Exclusive NCC and NSS unit for Girls and special encouragement given to girls for sports and cultural activities ensure full participation for Girl students in the academic and co-curricular life of the college.
Outstation Girl students can avail the hostel facilities offered at the Deepthi Bhavan, Auto Nagar Road, NH 9, and at St. Aloysius Centre, Gunadala, Vijayawada.
Kaladarshini
A fine arts wing of the Loyola Management, Kaladarshini was started in 1990 and offers training both in fine and folk arts to the students of this college as well as to the general public. Courses in Music (Vocal & Instrumental), painting, Dance (Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam) etc., are offered. This Loyola Institute of Fine Arts is affiliated to the well-known Gandharva University for Fine Arts, Maharashtra. The fine arts training is conceived in 10 stages with the tenth, being equivalent to Ph.D. One can take as many stages as possible and get the University certificate for every year separately.
